Giving Day Matching Funds:
Pete Hovland Natatorium Endowment (DPHNE-OU)
Thanks to a donation from OLY Swimming, all donations will be matched up to $25,000.
Pete Hovland led the OU Swimming and Diving programs for over four decades, and when he retired in May 2023, he left behind a legacy of excellence and dedication. To honor his incredible contributions, Oakland University is launching an initiative to name the natatorium in his honor. This project aims to not only recognize Hovland's monumental impact on the program but to ensure its continuation and further development. Contributed funds will be endowed to support Oakland University’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs, thereby helping to continue and to build upon the level of success that Hovland nurtured. The funds will be used for various programmatic needs, such as nutrition, equipment, team travel, recruiting, hiring additional full-time coaches, capital projects, and summer school scholarships.
